A speeding VIP bus, with registration number GW 6575-21, has tragically claimed the life of a 17-year-old motor rider on the Borae Kete-Krachi Highway in the Oti Region.
The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 5, 2025, leaving residents in shock and mourning the untimely loss of the young rider, identified only as Unyimbe.
Eyewitnesses Speak Out
According to eyewitness reports, the bus was traveling at high speed from Dambai to Krachi when it struck Unyimbe, who was navigating the highway. The impact of the crash was devastating, with the teenager sustaining severe head injuries and dying instantly at the scene.
Residents who witnessed the incident expressed deep frustration, blaming the lack of speed ramps and traffic control measures for the frequent accidents in the area.
“We are tired of losing lives on this road. How many more must die before the authorities act?” one distressed resident lamented.
Calls for Urgent Action
In the wake of the tragedy, residents have renewed demands for the construction of speed ramps to slow down vehicles and prevent further loss of life.
“If there were speed ramps, this could have been avoided,” another resident added.
