Tension has erupted at the Obuasi Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti Region after the school’s headmaster, Abdulai Zakaria, was allegedly attacked by some students following claims of misconduct levelled against him.

Videos circulating from the incident show a group of students physically assaulting the headmaster, with some seen hitting and kicking him during the confrontation. The attack, which appeared severe, left the school administrator injured and requiring medical attention.

The incident reportedly occurred after some students raised allegations concerning the headmaster, including claims that he buried what they believed to be a newborn baby on the school compound and allegations of sexual misconduct involving female students.

However, these claims have not been independently verified, and authorities are expected to establish the facts through investigations.

According to reports, the situation escalated after some students allegedly claimed they had seen the headmaster at a section of the school premises in the early hours of the morning. The students reportedly went to the location and raised concerns over what they believed they had discovered.

The allegations triggered anger among some students, leading to a confrontation with the headmaster, during which he was attacked.

Security personnel have since intervened to restore calm at the school, while investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding both the allegations and the assault.

The incident has sparked concerns about student unrest, the safety of school administrators, and the appropriate channels for addressing serious complaints within educational institutions.

Authorities from the Ghana Education Service, the police and other relevant stakeholders are expected to provide further updates as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the attack on the headmaster has renewed discussions on the need for schools to strengthen communication channels between management and students to prevent grievances from escalating into violence.
