Residents of Gomoa Mfantse-Moa in the Central Region were shaken by the gruesome murder of 21-year-old Okada rider Kwame Ofosu, who was beheaded by an unknown assailant.
According to reports, the assailant hired Ofosu to transport them to a nearby village, but upon reaching a secluded area, the assailant killed him, took his head, and fled the scene.
The shocking crime has left the community in disbelief.
In response to the murder, angry youth from the area stormed the newly commissioned Gomoa Obuasi Police Station, where they vandalized the building, a police vehicle, and several private cars belonging to officers.
The attack was reportedly fueled by misinformation that some suspects had already been arrested by the police.
Ibrahim Obeng, the Assemblyman for the Gomoa Afranse-Ofaso Electoral Area, confirmed the incident and urged Okada riders to be cautious, advising them to conduct background checks on passengers before accepting rides.
The police have launched an investigation into the beheading and are calling for calm in the community.
Authorities have appealed to residents to report any suspicious activities that could help in identifying and apprehending the culprits.
Meanwhile, Okada riders are being urged to take extra precautions to ensure their safety while on duty.
