A police raid targeting a suspected drug trafficking network in Dominase, located in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, turned deadly when officers encountered violent resistance from alleged peddlers.
The operation, led by the Ghana Police Service, aimed to clamp down on illicit drug activities in the area but escalated into a confrontation that left one civilian dead and three police officers injured.
According to police sources, the deceased is believed to have ties to the suspected drug ring. The injured officers are receiving treatment, though their identities, along with that of the deceased, have not been made public.
The Ghana Police Service has yet to issue a comprehensive statement on the incident, but residents have reported an increased security presence in the area as investigations intensify.
The violent encounter has stirred unease in the community, with locals expressing concern over both the scale of drug activity and the potential for further clashes.
As one resident noted, “We’ve never seen this level of police presence before it’s clear something big is happening.”
