The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has launched an investigation into the alleged embezzlement of GH¢1.3 billion from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), focusing on suspected corruption and financial mismanagement linked to the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF).
At a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng announced that the investigation is targeting four key individuals: Jacob Amoah, Wendy Ashong Newman, Freda Tandoh, and Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the former CEO of the NPA.
“The OSP has commenced investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses in respect of an alleged embezzlement of GH¢1.3 billion from the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF) at the NPA,” Agyebeng stated.
Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, who led the NPA from 2021 to early 2024, oversaw crucial regulatory functions, including fuel price stabilization and quality control.
