Over 60 Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party on Thursday paid a visit to the Nima office of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to affirm their support for his presidential bid.
The show of solidarity comes ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026, and marks a significant boost for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections.
Among the delegation were notable party figures such as Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, NLA Director General Sammi Awuku, as well as MPs Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, Habib Iddrisu, and Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah.
Addressing the media after the visit, Dr. Bawumia said, “It was a courtesy call and a call to declare support for me. I am so happy in terms of the group that has declared support for me from Parliament.”
He faces competition from three other party stalwarts: Kennedy Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, and Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
