The National Peasant Farmers Association has raised concerns about the exclusion of 80 percent of its members from the second phase of the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) initiative.
According to the Association, crucial farm inputs and other logistics have not been delivered to their members.
The Association’s National President, Wepia Awal Addo, has called on Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong to address the issue urgently, noting that the planting season is already underway and farmers are in dire need of supplies to ensure successful crop production.
“As of June, we observed that 80% of the farmers have not been registered and their farms have not been mapped, which is a source of worry to us, because the rainy season has started.
If you go to many places, a lot of people have started planting, and they need the inputs to be able to grow food,” said Wepia Awal Addo.
He emphasized that the delay in receiving farm inputs is causing distress among the association’s members, who rely on timely support to sustain their livelihoods.
