The Ghana Police Service has announced a GH₵50,000 reward for information leading to the capture of a suspect identified as Kanawu, who has threatened to harm and shoot public officials in a widely circulated video.
The police condemned the disturbing threats and launched an immediate investigation into the matter, urging the public to assist in locating the suspect.
Kanawu’s threats, aimed at specific public officials, included a promise to harm anyone who attempted to block his actions.
The viral video has heightened concerns about the safety of government personnel, with the police describing the situation as a grave security risk.
“We urge anyone with relevant information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and assist,” the police emphasized in a statement.
This is not an isolated incident. Threats and attacks on public officials have become a growing issue in Ghana, with several cases reported in recent years.
The current situation has raised alarm over the vulnerability of government officials and the increasing boldness of individuals targeting them.
The bounty on his head reflects the severity with which the police are treating the threats, as concerns about the security of public servants continue to escalate.
