A tragic incident rocked the town of Vutedeke in Yeji, Bono East Region, after 20-year-old Philipa Frimpong, popularly known as Yaa Baby, was fatally shot by her boyfriend, Hayford Boateng—widely known on TikTok as Kobby GH.
The shooting occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 10, and has since sparked widespread shock both locally and across social media, where the suspect is well-known.
Yaa Baby reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to her left arm and was rushed to St. Martin’s Hospital in Yeji, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
However, police have arrested Hayford Boateng in connection with the death and launched a full investigation into the incident.
Two of Hayford’s friends, 28-year-old Kojo Emmanuel and 34-year-old Michael Kabutey, who were allegedly present during the shooting, have also been taken into custody and are assisting law enforcement with ongoing inquiries.
