President Nana Akufo-Addo is set to deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) today, January 3, 2025, at 10:00 am, in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.
This becomes his last address before the dissolution of the 8th Parliament on January 6, 2025.
A statement from the Parliamentary Service outlined that following the dissolution, the 9th Parliament will convene at 11:00 pm on the same day to elect a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers.
Swearing-in ceremonies for the Speaker-elect and Members-elect will take place at midnight, officially commencing the new Parliament.
To ensure smooth coverage of these pivotal events, Parliament has implemented strict media protocols.
Accredited media personnel will conduct interviews and live broadcasts in designated spaces, with a “first-come, first-served” policy for equipment setup by January 2 and January 5.
Parliament also announced stringent security measures, including screening of personnel and equipment.
Clean feeds will be provided for electronic media, while the public gallery will remain reserved for invited guests.
