Michael Boadi, a governance expert with the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), has called for an end to comparisons of presidential inaugurations, describing such debates as needless.
Speaking to ABC News on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Boadi acknowledged the vibrancy and punctuality of the recent inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama but dismissed the need to compare it with past events.
“Yes, it was colorful and timely, but the comparison is needless,” he remarked.
He further emphasized the importance of focusing on the substance of leadership rather than ceremonial details.
Boadi also lauded Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for her proactive leadership style, urging the new administration to leverage her capabilities.
“She has demonstrated that she is not laid back. She is a goal-getter,” he stated.
Boadi expressed hope that she would champion the empowerment of women in public office, enabling them to excel and demonstrate that women can perform just as effectively as men, if not better, in leadership roles.
He concluded by encouraging the government to assign her a passive role to further amplify her impact on national development.
“The outgone vice president was very active, i pray that there will be an enhancement on that as well, giving her a passive role to play,” he added.
