The General Agricultural Workers’ Union of Ghana (GAWU) has called on the government to prioritize investments in selected cash crops as part of efforts to revitalize the nation’s agricultural sector.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, the Secretary of GAWU, Andrews Tagoe emphasized the significant economic potential of crops like tomatoes, oil palm, and rubber.
He highlighted how these crops, if given adequate resources and attention, could boost Ghana’s economic growth, generate employment, and enhance food security.
He indicated that these crops are not just export-oriented but also hold the capacity to transform livelihoods and ensure a stable food supply, urging the government to strategically channel resources into their cultivation for sustainable agricultural development.
