‘Junior’ the youngest son of celebrated Ghanaian tech innovator and spiritual leader, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, has shared his emotions on social media with the words “rest well daddy,” confirming the passing of the man widely known as the “African Star.”
His death, announced today by the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church, has sent shockwaves across the nation and beyond.
Apostle Safo, who died peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, was a towering figure in Ghana’s history, blending spirituality, technology, agriculture, philanthropy, and industrialization into a life of remarkable impact.

From founding the Kristo Asafo Mission in the 1970s to establishing Kantanka Automobile in the 1990s, he became a symbol of African self-reliance and ingenuity.

His innovations, annual technology exhibitions, vast agricultural ventures, and philanthropic work cemented his reputation as both a visionary inventor and a spiritual father.

Tributes pouring in describe him as a true genius, a beacon of hope, and a father to many beyond his biological children. The family’s statement quoted Romans 14:8 to capture his lifelong devotion: “For if we live, we live to the Lord and if we die, we die to the Lord.” Funeral arrangements will be communicated in the coming days as the nation prepares to honour a man whose faith and creativity shaped generations.
