Ghanaian reggae and dancehall heavyweight Samini has confirmed February 12, 2026, as the release date for his eighth studio album, ORIGIN8A, a project he describes as one of the most defining moments of his career.
The album signals a reflective phase for the veteran musician, as it draws inspiration from his roots while capturing years of artistic evolution. The title ORIGIN8A symbolises alignment, purpose, and continuity, underscoring Samini’s desire to reconnect with the foundations that shaped his sound and identity.

Speaking on the project, Samini said the album represents a moment of balance after years of experimentation and global touring, noting that the songs are driven by intention and lived experience.
ORIGIN8A also stands out for its collaborative depth. The project reunites Samini with artistes he played a mentoring role for earlier in their careers, including Stonebwoy, Mugeez of R2Bees, Kofi Kinaata, and Kaakie. Their presence on the album reflects enduring bonds and a shared journey within Ghana’s music space.
Beyond local collaborations, the album features a diverse mix of artistes such as the Soweto Gospel Choir, M.anifest, and Kuami Eugene, bringing together multiple generations and cultural influences. The collaborations are aimed at creating a sound that resonates across borders while remaining rooted in African musical traditions.
Sonically, ORIGIN8A explores a wide range of styles, blending traditional African rhythms with highlife, Afrobeats, Afropop, Amapiano, African dancehall, and reggae. The fusion highlights Samini’s versatility and his long-standing influence on Ghana’s contemporary music scene.
The project will be distributed worldwide by Prime Music Partners and released on all major digital streaming platforms. Founder of the company, Akeju, described the album as a significant cultural contribution, praising Samini’s authenticity and consistency over the years.
