Celebrated Ghanaian hip-life artiste Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has filed a lawsuit against Ecobank Ghana, the nation’s largest bank by asset valuation, for allegedly using his image without consent.
The suit, lodged on March 25, 2025, accuses Ecobank of unlawfully associating Sarkodie’s likeness with its products and services, constituting a violation of his intellectual property rights.
Sarkodie is seeking a perpetual injunction to prevent the bank from further use of his image and is demanding damages for the unauthorized commercial exploitation.
As of this report, Ecobank Ghana has not issued a formal response to the allegations.
