Ghanaian musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has been granted bail by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following his interrogation in connection with a $4 million car fraud case.
The investigation stems from a request by the FBI and the US Justice Department to track a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, which is believed to be part of the proceeds of a crime involving a Ghanaian woman, Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving a jail term in the USA.
investigation began after EOCO was asked to assist in locating the vehicle, which was eventually identified and seized in May of this year while in Shatta Wale’s possession.
According to a news release issued by EOCO, the US District Court of the Eastern District of Kentucky issued an order on August 15, 2025, authorizing the US Government to take possession of the vehicle as restitution for the crime.
Shatta Wale was initially invited for questioning on August 13, 2025, but the appointment was rescheduled for August 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. to allow him to attend with his legal counsel.
However, his legal team requested a further adjustment to 11 a.m. EOCO subsequently learned that the counsel was unavailable and Shatta Wale was also busy, but he was still expected to report as scheduled.
