The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has accused the government of using the Oral Committee as a tool for political persecution.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, he stated, “The Oral Committee was set up as a political persecution mechanism,” arguing that its formation was not based on fairness or due process.
He further criticized the revocation of appointments, stating that it contradicts the job creation policies the National Democratic Congress (NDC) claims to uphold.
Nana B questioned the justification for the revocation directive, emphasizing that it lacked legal grounds.
“So what happened, Mr. President?” he asked, adding that “the mere date of appointment does not validate termination.”
He noted that affected workers include fathers, mothers, and breadwinners, and condemned the decision to revoke appointments of individuals recruited into the military, police, and customs services after December 7, 2024.
He insisted that President Mahama does not have the authority to revoke these appointments, just as former President Akufo-Addo refrained from doing at the end of his tenure.
The NPP organiser urged affected individuals to resist the directive through legal means, revealing that he has already taken the matter to court. “I have directed my lawyers.
They are in court to challenge the unconstitutional act of revocation,” he announced.
He assured that the NPP would fully support any legal efforts to reverse what he described as an illegal move. Nana B encouraged all affected individuals to unite in challenging the decision, calling on them to petition against the directive.
