A political analyst from the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Jonathan Asante Otchere has mentioned that there has not been any religious conflict across the country, adding that, tribal voting has never been good.
Speaking on ABC in the morning about tribal and religious politics ahead of the 2024 elections, Dr. Otchere said religious platforms cannot be used to woe voters.
“In reality, if we talk about tribal and religion, Dr. Bawumia is disadvantaged because he comes from the minority side as far as the Northern part is concerned.”
“We are talking about 71% Christians and about 17% Muslims, so he also stands at a disadvantage.”
“There has never been a religious conflict in this country, and soo it is a non-starter.”
Again, Dr. Otchere indicated that religion and tribe are there to help Ghanaians live in peace, stressing that the common denominator that every rational human being will stand on to vote is the economy.
“The essence of tribe and religion is to live peacefully among each other. No tribe is suprerior to each other, no religion is superior to each other.”
“The common denomintor that every human will look at is the economy,” he said.
