Alan Kyerematen, leader of the Movement for Change, has pledged to complete the long-abandoned Krofrom Market project in Kumasi if elected president.
Speaking during his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, Kyerematen expressed disappointment over the 17-year neglect of the project, which was initiated to decongest the Kejetia Market and serve Krofrom and surrounding communities.
He criticized both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to complete the initiative, emphasizing its importance to traders and small business owners.
Highlighting the significance of the project, Kyerematen said the Krofrom Market was designed to serve not only Krofrom but also Aboabu and other neighboring areas, making it a central hub for trade and commerce.
He assured the people that its completion would bring immense economic benefits and improve their livelihoods.
“This will be my first project. I feel very saddened that this project has been hanging for over seventeen years,” he said.
Kyerematen also outlined additional plans for the market, promising to include vital facilities such as a hospital, kindergarten, and a police station to enhance community development.
He described the initiative as a “showpiece” that would reflect his administration’s commitment to addressing long-standing infrastructural deficits if elected.
