President John Dramani Mahama has summoned the Managing Director of TDC Company Limited, Courage Nunekpeku, and the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ebi Bright, to a meeting over a dispute concerning an ongoing development project at Community One Site Three in Tema.
The meeting, scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., will also involve the Minister for Local Government and the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The directive was issued on Friday, August 14, at the President’s instruction, following growing tensions between the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) and TDC Company Limited over the project.
The TMA has ordered TDC to suspend work at the site, insisting that the development is being carried out without the necessary permit.
The Assembly has also raised concerns over issues allegedly associated with the project, including the removal of about 50 trees, the demolition of existing structures, encroachment on playgrounds and green belts, as well as the obstruction of access routes.
The standoff has generated concern among residents over the development and management of public spaces within the community.
Monday’s meeting is expected to bring together the key stakeholders to examine the concerns raised by the Assembly and residents, hear the positions of TDC and the TMA, and agree on a way forward.
The President’s intervention is therefore expected to help resolve the impasse and determine whether the ongoing development can proceed and under what conditions.
