Former Auditor-General Daniel Yao Domelovo has dismissed calls for the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team to be transformed into a full institution, arguing that the country already has too many institutions handling governance matters.
Speaking on Prime News GH on ABC News GH, Domelovo emphasized that the ORAL team’s mission is solely to collect data and provide recommendations to the President for further action.
“The investigation is in order,” he stated, adding, “The issue was stated in the ORAL report.”
Earlier this week, the ORAL team presented an extensive list of citizen complaints to the President, who subsequently ordered an immediate investigation and prosecution of culprits.
However, Domelovo believes there is no need to establish a new institution for this purpose, stating, “I think that should not be accepted. There are too many institutions.”
Rejecting the idea of institutionalizing the ORAL team, Domelovo expressed satisfaction with the Attorney General’s efforts to address concerns raised in the ORAL report.
“I am excited about the AG taking practical actions on matters raised in the report submitted,” he said.
He also commended the AG for providing clarity on why some high-profile cases were discontinued, a move that has generated political debate in recent days.
