The Member of Parliament for Trobu, Hon. Gloria Owusu, has asked the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, to provide details on measures being taken to address the persistent flooding at the Ofankor Barrier whenever it rains.
The issue was raised on the floor of Parliament on Friday during the Minister’s appearance to answer questions relating to housing and water-related infrastructure.
Hon. Owusu sought an update on interventions being undertaken by the Ministry to mitigate the flooding situation at the Ofankor Barrier, an area that frequently experiences severe flooding during heavy rains, disrupting movement for commuters and residents.
Flooding at the Ofankor Barrier has remained a major concern for residents and motorists in the Greater Accra Region, particularly during the rainy season, with recurring inundation causing traffic disruptions and posing risks to lives and property.
