The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly impersonating police officers and stealing a motorbike belonging to a complainant.
The suspects have been identified as 35-year-old Richard Demordzi Tamakloe and 32-year-old Godwin Agbolosu.
According to the Police, the two were arrested at Ashaiman on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m., after the complainant spotted them riding his allegedly stolen motorbike and raised an alarm.
The complainant told investigators that about two weeks before the arrest, the suspects allegedly posed as police officers, arrested him and took his motorbike on the pretext of sending it to a police station.
The suspects, however, allegedly rode away with the motorbike instead.
A search following their arrest led to the recovery of one police body armour, a taser, a pair of handcuffs, a police baton and two military caps.
Police also recovered two Royal motorbikes, one of which was unregistered while the other bore registration number M-25-GE 5665.
The suspects were subsequently charged with falsely pretending to be a public officer, stealing and unlawful possession of police accoutrements.
They were arraigned before the Ashaiman District Court on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and remanded into police custody.
They are expected to reappear before the court on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The Tema Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report individuals who unlawfully identify themselves as police officers or use police accoutrements without authorisation.
The Police have also encouraged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement and provide information on suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
