The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has been enstooled as Gyaasehen of Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) during this year’s Nyeyi Afahye festival of Komenda.
She was conferred with the stool name Owoabrempong Kru-Kow I, an honour bestowed by the Komenda Traditional Council in recognition of her remarkable contributions to education, her role in national development, and her steadfast commitment to leadership and public service.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also drew attention to the completion of the Komenda Night Market, a project she described as transformative for local livelihoods. The market, she said, offers traders a dignified and modern space to conduct business, reflecting her belief in sustainable community development.
“I am humbled by this honour and extend my profound gratitude to the Komenda Traditional Council and the entire community for their warm welcome and support. Let us continue to stand together and support government efforts as we work to restore Ghana to the status we deserve,” she stated.
The colourful enstoolment ceremony, which formed part of the Nyeyi Afahye festival, was highlighted by rich cultural displays, traditional rites, and jubilant communal celebrations. The occasion not only underscored the Vice President’s enduring ties with Komenda but also symbolized the deep bond between leadership and the people.
The event is expected to resonate beyond Komenda, serving as a celebration of heritage, unity, and the collective aspiration to build a stronger, more inclusive Ghana.
