The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) under the Ministry of Education has announced the ongoing development of a mathematics curriculum tailored for visually impaired students.
This curriculum, currently in its trial phase, aligns with the government’s broader inclusivity agenda.
In an interview with JoyNews on Sunday, NaCCA’s executives affirmed, “We are taking inclusivity very seriously,” underscoring the importance of making education accessible to all Ghanaians, regardless of physical challenges.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, also outlined transformative educational initiatives during an event with youth at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra.
He announced a mandate for second-year Senior High School students to take compulsory Robotics and Coding courses starting immediately, a move aimed at fostering critical digital skills.
This curriculum, enhanced with additional subjects, is designed to prepare young Ghanaians for a competitive digital workforce, reflecting Bawumia’s commitment to equipping youth for a modern economy.
Highlighting the Akufo-Addo administration’s achievements in job creation, Bawumia shared that 2.6 million jobs have been generated since 2017, with 1.4 million in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector.
“These figures represent the highest job creation by any government in Ghana’s Fourth Republic,” he noted. Despite existing economic hurdles, Bawumia assured Ghanaians of his dedication to expanding these job opportunities, emphasizing a vision for a resilient economy led by skilled and employable youth.
