Reports of an alleged suspension of the free dialysis policy under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have left patients and stakeholders seeking clarity.
Isaac Offei Baah, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health (MoH), stated that he could not confirm the directive’s authenticity, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the issue.
Speaking to ABC News GH, Baffour Kojo Ahenkorah, President of the Renal Patients Association, revealed that he had also received information about the suspension but is yet to verify its validity.
The free dialysis policy, introduced under the Akufo-Addo administration, has been a lifeline for many kidney patients reliant on NHIS coverage for treatment.
However, the sudden circulation of suspension claims has sparked fears of devastating consequences for affected patients.
