Dr. Rashid Tanko, the Deputy Director of IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asserted that no illegally declared Member of Parliament (MP) will be allowed to sit in Parliament.
Speaking on ABC Prime, Dr. Tanko stressed that his party will actively work to remove any MPs who were wrongly elected or declared.
“We will not allow any illegality declared MP in Parliament. We will get them out,” he stated firmly, signaling his commitment to tackling electoral misconduct ahead of the 2024 elections.
Dr. Tanko’s remarks also reflected his confidence in the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.
“I can assure you the president knows what he is doing,” Dr. Tanko expressed confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s nominations.
Mahama’s selection of 12 nominees, including Haruna Iddrisu for the Ministry of Education, signals a deliberate effort to strengthen governance and address national priorities.
These appointments, alongside key regional ministers such as Wilbert Petty Brentum for the Western North, show a government focused on development and national transformation.
The appointments, which span critical ministries like Roads and Highways, Food and Agriculture, and Gender, Children, and Social Protection, will now undergo a rigorous vetting process.
Parliament’s Appointments Committee will review the nominees based on their qualifications and experience.
Dr. Tanko’s insistence on electoral reforms ahead of the upcoming elections, paired with the administration’s push for capable leadership, highlights the NDC’s drive for transparency and accountability as it aims to restore faith in Ghana’s political institutions.
