The Fixthecountry movement has warned it is prepared to resort to legal measures if government fails to respond to their demands on illegal mining.
Member of the convenors, Kirchuff Atengble said the group views legal action as an important tool for defending values they hold dear.
“We are actively in court pursuing justice for our colleagues who were unjustifiably treated in the last two elections,” Atengble told ABC News GH.
“This is something we can do, taking legal action for the things we hold strong value for.”
He stressed that the same approach would be used to compel government action on the galamsey menace if necessary.
The group believes that the state’s handling of illegal mining has been inadequate and must be met with more forceful accountability measures.
Through Tuesday’s protest, which ended with the submission of a petition to the President, Fixthecountry signaled its readiness to escalate the fight against environmental degradation with both public pressure and legal remedies.
