Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Candidate, has drawn attention to the unprecedented job creation achievements under the Akufo-Addo administration, asserting that it has created more employment opportunities than any previous government.
Citing recent data from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr. Bawumia announced that around 2.6 million jobs have been generated since 2017, with 1.4 million in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector.
“We have done a remarkable job in creating jobs in the last seven years,” he stated.
Speaking during a youth engagement in Accra, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the administration’s dedication to addressing unemployment, despite current economic challenges.
He acknowledged that while significant strides have been made, high unemployment remains an obstacle that requires continued focus.
“We still have high unemployment. Our youth still need jobs,” he admitted, appealing to young Ghanaians by highlighting his ongoing commitment to tackle the issue head-on.
As Ghana approaches the December elections, Dr. Bawumia reassured the public that, if elected, he intends to further boost job creation efforts and bring renewed hope to the nation’s workforce. Stressing the importance of continuity in driving Ghana’s economic resilience, he affirmed, “We have more to do,” a message that resonated strongly with the youth audience.
