YY ReGen, a cutting-edge agritech and renewable energy startup, has emerged as the grand winner of the inaugural ‘Accelerate with Djembe’ program, a first-of-its-kind communications-focused accelerator for scale-ups in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

The announcement was made during a vibrant pitch event held at One Airport Square in Accra on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Organized by global PR firm Djembe Consultants, the accelerator aims to equip promising businesses with powerful communication strategies to drive innovation and growth.

The event brought together 10 finalists selected from over 80 applications across the region.

Speaking to ABC News GH, Djembe Consultants CEO Mitchell Prather praised the participating entrepreneurs, stating, “Engaging with Africa’s next generation of innovators is truly a luxury. At Djembe, we consider it a privilege to work alongside these bright, driven individuals who are so passionate about creating meaningful change. Their energy and vision are incredibly inspiring.”

Prather also shared that the top three winners will receive varying levels of strategic communications support. YY ReGen, an innovator in agritech and renewable energy will benefit from 12 months of 360-degree communications services, including digital support, media outreach, fundraising access, and strategic partnerships.

Coming in second was STEMAIDE, a trailblazer in STEM education in Africa, whose flagship STEM kits are helping reshape education through hands-on, tech-driven learning tools.

Saving System and Mzuri Organics tied for third place. Saving System is revolutionizing cleantech with 20 years of energy-saving innovation, while Mzuri Organics is transforming organic waste into sustainable agricultural products and supporting over 200 smallholder farmers.

About “Accelerate with Djembe”

“Accelerate with Djembe” is a communication-focused accelerator program tailored for high-impact scale-ups in the MEA region. With a jury of global sustainability leaders, the initiative seeks to elevate emerging businesses through strategic storytelling.

Investors and funders of the program include the Mastercard Foundation, Orange Corners, WFP, Berytech, UNICEF, amongst others. The program was held in partnership with ALX, a leading African youth empowerment platform.
