Aggrieved customers of the defunct MenzGold Company have once again stormed the Jubilee House, urging President Akufo-Addo to intervene in their long-standing fight to retrieve their locked funds.
Six years after the company’s collapse, the customers, led by Convener Fred Forson, expressed their frustration, revealing that 226 members have died in recent years, with five committing suicide.
“We believe the President still has our mandate to ensure something is done to enable us to escape this predicament,” Forson stated.
Fred Forson further lamented the deteriorating conditions of members, noting that many have lost their sanity, with some now homeless.
Despite repeated petitions and a court case that made headway last year, their funds remain unreleased, deepening the crisis.
“Lives keep deteriorating, and the situation is very dire,” Forson emphasized.
The group is appealing to the government for an interim bailout, as assets have been frozen in the ongoing legal proceedings.
The petition, directed to the President, Vice President, and Chief of Staff, calls for immediate action.
Forson stressed that while they have fully cooperated with the Attorney General’s office in the prosecution process, the financial relief remains elusive.
“Since assets have been frozen, it is a guarantee that bailing us out now would help recover costs,” Forson argued, pleading for urgent governmental intervention.
