Four individuals have been apprehended by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly stealing building materials designated for the Agenda 111 hospital project at Awutu Bereku in the Central Region.
The arrest, carried out on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, was made possible through collaboration between the police and community members.
According to a police statement, the suspects were caught after intercepting a Man Diesel truck with registration number GT 8715-Z, driven by one of the suspects, Kwabena Ayamba.
The truck was found loaded with assorted building materials.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects claimed to have been contracted by the project’s contractor to transport the materials to Tema.
The arrested individuals are currently in custody, assisting with further investigations.
Efforts are also underway to apprehend the contractor allegedly involved in the incident.
This case adds to a series of arrests, bringing the total number of individuals detained in connection with post-election disturbances and related incidents to 110.
