The Ghana Police Service has announced the temporary closure of several public roads in Accra on Thursday, March 6, 2025, as part of security arrangements for Ghana’s 68th Independence Day anniversary.
In a statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, the police indicated that the move is necessary to ensure safety and smooth coordination of the anniversary parade, which will be held at the Jubilee House.
The affected roads include:
- Liberation Road at Opeaibea Intersection
- 37 Intersection towards the Central Business District (CBD)
- Independence Avenue at Ako-Adjei bypass
- Jawaharlal Nehru Road at Switchback Road
- Presidential Drive around Jubilee House, blocked at Hammond Road, TV3 Junction, and Kanda Link
Motorists have been advised to take note of these roadblocks and plan alternative routes ahead of time to avoid inconvenience.
