The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has unveiled its leadership for the Minority Caucus in the 9th Parliament following a national council meeting on December 2.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament for Effutu, has been appointed Minority Leader, while Patricia Appiagyei, MP for Asokwa, has been named Deputy Minority Leader. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, representing Nsawam-Adoagyiri, takes on the role of Chief Whip, signaling a reshuffled power dynamic within the party’s minority ranks.
These appointments mark a significant moment for the NPP as they assume Minority responsibilities after the 2024 General Elections.
Afenyo-Markin, who brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as Deputy Majority Leader and Majority Leader in the 8th Parliament, is poised to lead the team with seasoned leadership skills.
Appiagyei’s selection as Deputy Minority Leader underscores the party’s focus on gender inclusivity, a move praised by the Majority Women’s Caucus.
Annoh-Dompreh, a former Majority Chief Whip, is expected to provide stability and continuity, ensuring smooth parliamentary operations.
