Hon. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, Founder and Leader of the Movement of Change, has congratulated former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their projected victory in the 2024 elections.
In a press release, Kyerematen stated, “Although the Electoral Commission is yet to formally declare the elections, it is very clear that the people of Ghana have spoken. I urge all Ghanaians to accept the decision of the electorate once the official results are released to preserve the peace of our nation.”
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has also conceded defeat, acknowledging Mahama’s substantial lead in early results.
Projections show Mahama securing approximately 52.7% of the vote, with Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) trailing at 40.1%.
These results reflect pre-election surveys, such as one by Global InfoAnalytics, which anticipated a decisive win for Mahama.
The election occurred amid Ghana’s worst economic crisis in decades, marked by high inflation and unemployment, which likely swayed voter sentiment.
The low voter turnout underscores the challenges faced during this pivotal election.
With official results expected soon, the peaceful acknowledgments from Kyerematen and Bawumia are seen as vital in ensuring a smooth post-election transition.
