The National Security has intercepted a massive haul of US dollars, Ghana cedis—including counterfeits—and suspected gold bars hidden in twelve 20-foot shipping containers.
Acting on a tip-off, operatives tracked the containers to a warehouse in Ofankor, Ga South Municipality, where a special operation led to their seizure.
A statement from National Security revealed that the money, mainly US dollar bundles, was concealed in wooden boxes filled with cement.
Other boxes discovered in the warehouse were barricaded with plywood and sealed with charcoal, further disguising the illicit stash.
Beyond the staggering cash haul, security operatives also uncovered fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots, along with additional counterfeit cedi notes in 50 and 100 denominations.
Authorities disclosed that two containers remain unaccounted for, but state security trackers are actively pursuing them.
A manhunt has been launched for four suspects, including a ringleader identified only as “Alhaji.” National Security officials described the findings as “shocking,” signaling a deeper investigation into what appears to be a sophisticated financial crime ring.
