The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially released guidelines for its upcoming parliamentary primaries in the Tamale Central Constituency following the tragic death of former MP Murtala Mohammed in a helicopter crash on August 6.
A statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, outlined the processes aspirants must follow, stressing transparency and fairness throughout the contest. Nomination forms will be available at the party’s Northern Regional Office and must be returned to the same office upon completion.
According to the guidelines, aspirants will pay a non-refundable nomination fee of GH¢5,000 and a filing fee of GH¢40,000, payable strictly in cash into the NDC’s official UMB Bank account at Adabraka Branch.
Female aspirants and persons with disabilities, however, will benefit from a 50 percent reduction in the filing fee.
The party emphasized that cheques and bankers’ drafts will not be accepted, insisting that payments be made directly into the designated account.
The timetable for the primaries indicates that nomination forms will be opened between Friday, August 22, and Sunday, August 24, 2025, with submission scheduled for Thursday, August 28, 2025.
Vetting, balloting, and appeals will follow on Sunday, August 31, 2025.
The NDC urged all aspirants to adhere strictly to the timelines and conduct their campaigns with unity, fairness, and decorum as the party prepares to elect a new parliamentary candidate for the constituency.
