Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has officially filed his nomination to contest as the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2028 general election.
Filing his forms at the NPP headquarters, he assured party supporters of his commitment to maintaining unity and peace within the party. “I will not do anything to create a problem for the NPP, I embody unity,” Dr. Bawumia said, stressing his desire to lead the NPP as a united front.
The event, held at the party headquarters, attracted several party faithful, MPs, and leading figures who accompanied him to demonstrate their support.
The atmosphere was filled with chants and solidarity songs, symbolizing the enthusiasm within the party’s grassroots for Dr. Bawumia’s candidature.
In his remarks, the Vice President emphasized that the NPP must go into the 2028 election stronger and more cohesive than ever.
He explained that factionalism only weakens the collective effort and urged members to place party interest above individual ambitions.
