The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has voiced its displeasure with the National Peace Council after the suspension of a planned dialogue with key political parties ahead of the Akwatia by-elections.
The session, scheduled for Monday, September 1, was expected to bring together leaders of the NPP and the NDC to foster peaceful and credible polls.
The initiative followed earlier engagements between the Peace Council and the NDC on July 29, as well as a meeting with the NPP on July 30.
It was designed to honor the Council’s commitment to consult both sides prior to the elections in order to build consensus and promote trust.
Addressing the media, the NPP’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, stated that the party felt very disappointed by the suspension, emphasizing that they had accepted the invitation with utmost respect and attended fully represented.
