Communications Team Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Manasseh Attah Boahene has stressed that no member of the party, regardless of their status or past position, is above its rules and constitution.
Speaking in an interview on ABC In The Morning, Mr Boahene addressed the recent debates surrounding the party’s internal tensions, particularly in relation to former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.
“No one is above the party, even if you are a former minister,” he said, highlighting the party’s commitment to discipline and adherence to its constitution.
He further emphasized that seniority or previous governmental service does not exempt any member from the party’s regulations.
“Even senior members have to uphold the constitution of the party,” he added, stressing the importance of internal accountability.
Mr Boahene also underscored that the party’s leadership is not beyond scrutiny, noting that constructive criticism is essential for the health of the party.
“The leadership of the party is not immune to criticism,” he said, adding that internal democracy and accountability strengthen the party rather than weaken it.
The comments come amid heightened discussions about internal disagreements within the NPP, as the party works to manage tensions while maintaining cohesion ahead of future political activities.
