The Minority caucus in Parliament has given the Bank of Ghana (BoG) seven days to provide information on the cost of its new headquarters under construction in Accra pursuant to section 18 of the Right To Information Act (ACT 989).
In a letter signed by Mahama Ayariga on behalf of the Chief Whip of the minority caucus, Kwame Governs Agbodza, the Minority is demanding the Central Bank to disclose information on the financing arrangements of the construction of the new headquarters building of the Bank of Ghana at Ridge in Accra and currently under construction.
Also, the minority is requesting information on the processes involved in the procurement of the land for the construction of the new headquarters building, as well as the names of consultants and project managers.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has exposed a drastic escalation of the cost of the new Bank of Ghana Headquarters from the initial projected cost of $80 million to a staggering $250 million at present.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Ablakwa also alleged that a construction firm, selected through a single-source Public Procurement Authority (PPA) process for the project, is not even a registered entity within the country.
