The 85 candidates who filed to compete for parliamentary seats in the region have all been approved by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ashanti Regional Office.
Prior to its primaries on May 13, the party finished screening all parliamentary candidates nationwide on Wednesday.
Prior to the election, all cleared candidates now can campaign.
The NDC Ashanti Regional Secretary, Dr. Franck Amoakohene, says the party is pleased with the human resources filing to run in the primaries.
“For the records, there were no disqualifications whatsoever. There were five petitions, the vetting committee sat on same and we cleared the candidates based on our guidelines.”
The party’s Regional Vetting Committee has approved 71 applicants for the Eastern Region’s leadership positions.
Two candidates from the Lower West Akim Constituency and the Akropong Constituency withdrew their nominations out of the 75 who chose candidacy forms.
Kpeli Worlasi, a candidate from the Afram North Constituency, was approved with the stipulation that she aid in the withdrawal of an ongoing court lawsuit in the district.
