The Electoral Commission’s (EC) Deputy Chairman for Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare, has reiterated the commission’s dedication to conducting free and fair elections. He emphasized that the EC will not shield any electoral officer found guilty of malpractice during the upcoming elections.
During a press briefing on September 2, Dr. Asare stated, “The commission will like to assure the public that it will not shield any of its officers, both permanent and temporary, found complicit in any electoral malpractices and would allow such persons to face the full rigor of the law.”
This reassurance comes in response to concerns raised by political parties, particularly the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which has questioned the EC’s ability to conduct impartial elections. Dr. Asare, however, reaffirmed that the EC is committed to the nation’s best interests and will not jeopardize the country’s peace.
