The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has officially scheduled October 22, 2024, for its first presidential debate, with a second set for November 19, ahead of the December 7 general elections.
The highly anticipated debates will be complemented by a Vice Presidential debate on November 5, and five Evening Encounters, with the first on September 18 and the last on October 15.
However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has confirmed that its flagbearer will not participate in the debate, citing concerns about the credibility of the organizers.
This decision, which casts a shadow over the debate’s inclusivity, raises questions about the fairness and objectivity of the platform as perceived by the opposition.
IEA has been a key player in fostering political discourse, but the NDC’s boycott marks a significant shift in the political landscape.
Despite this, the debates are expected to draw significant attention from voters eager to hear from other major candidates.
