John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has arrived in Goaso to begin his two-day campaign tour of the Ahafo Region.
The visit, part of his #Mahama4Change2024 tour, focuses on addressing the region’s long-standing challenges, including poor infrastructure, underdevelopment, and rising poverty levels.
Mahama emphasized that Ahafo, rich in natural resources like agriculture, mining, and forestry, holds immense potential for growth.
“The people of Ahafo deserve better roads, better healthcare, and jobs. We will work together to unlock the region’s full potential,” he stated.
Mahama’s vision for the region centers on enhancing agricultural productivity by providing farmers with access to modern techniques and financial support through Farmer Services Centres.
His plan also includes investment in local industries, particularly in mining and agro-processing, which he believes will create sustainable employment opportunities for the youth.
“We are committed to creating a 24-hour economy in Ahafo that will boost local businesses and foster economic growth,” Mahama assured, promising that under his leadership, the NDC will reduce unemployment and drive development in the region.
Improving infrastructure and healthcare remains central to Mahama’s agenda.
He pledged to upgrade roads and healthcare facilities while establishing the Ghana Medical Care Trust Fund (MahamaCares) to assist people with chronic diseases.
The NDC leader also emphasized the need for sustainable development, vowing to promote environmentally friendly practices across sectors to preserve Ahafo’s natural resources.
“We cannot develop without protecting the environment for future generations,” Mahama concluded, underscoring his vision of inclusive growth and a better future for Ahafo residents.
