The Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, has vowed that the party has learned from the painful lessons of the 2020 election, pledging a heightened level of vigilance ahead of this year’s general election.
Speaking on the party’s resolve, Dr. Tanko recounted how, despite their efforts in 2020, the Electoral Commission (EC) allegedly rigged the election in favor of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). “We (NDC) are ready for power. The issues that happened in 2020, we have learned the bitter lesson,” he asserted.
Dr. Tanko further revealed the frustration of the NDC over what he described as a strategic ploy by the EC to distract them.
During the crucial moments in the strong room, he claimed the EC served them tea and biscuits while manipulating the electoral process.
“Our people did their best in 2020, unfortunately, this EC rigged the election, and we have evidence,” he remarked, emphasizing the need for sharper monitoring in the upcoming polls.
The NDC remains determined to avoid a repeat of the 2020 events. With eyes wide open, Dr. Tanko assured supporters that this time, the party will not be blindsided, stating, “We are monitoring with clear eyes.”
