Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Akweley Ocloo has disclosed that most markets in Accra have sufficient space to accommodate traders currently operating along roadsides.
She assured that the government will address concerns over the affordability of market space rents to facilitate the relocation of these traders into designated market areas.
“There are a lots of space in there.”
“Some of them said they don’t have funds, so we are compiling all those list, and make sure we give them some little support to move inside.”
“There are a lot of space at the back,” she added.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, Minister Ocloo emphasised that relevant laws and regulations will be strictly enforced, and individuals who fail to comply will face appropriate consequences.
Her remarks come in the context of the government’s broader effort to decongest the Greater Accra Region in order to prevent flooding and improve urban management.
