Despite recent incidents involving helicopters in Ghana’s aviation sector, Aviation Expert, Dr Yakubu Isaaka Akparibo, has reassured the public that air travel remains the safest mode of transportation worldwide.
Speaking on ABC in the morning, he urged passengers not to panic over the recent emergency landings and crashes, emphasising that statistical data continues to support the sector’s strong safety record.
“Emergency landing normally happens due to several factors,” he said, noting that such events are not uncommon in aviation.
Dr Akparibo stressed that the public should maintain trust in the industry, saying, “However, aviation is the safest mode of transport from the statistics I have, so you should have confidence in our mode of transport.”
His remarks follow the recent emergency landing of a Volta River Aviation helicopter and the fatal Z-9 crash.
While urging calm, Dr Akparibo also stressed the importance of strict safety protocols, training, and weather monitoring to minimise risks and maintain Ghana’s aviation safety reputation.
