President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to commission a 320-unit housing project for the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra.
This extensive project, which began in 2018, includes seven blocks of two-bedroom apartments and thirteen blocks of three-bedroom apartments, each block containing sixteen apartments.
The project boasts a multipurpose sports facility, a kindergarten school, and other auxiliary residential facilities, aimed at significantly improving the living conditions of police personnel.
In a press release dated July 19, 2024, and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Elvis Adjei-Baah, the Ministry emphasized the project’s importance.
“The completion and utilization of this housing project will augment the government’s other housing programmes that are being rolled out to increase the residential stock of public service workers,” the statement read.
Highlighting the initiative’s impact on reducing accommodation challenges in urban areas, the release noted, “This project will reduce accommodation challenges in our sprawling cities and ultimately bridge the national housing deficit, which stands at 1.8 million housing units.”
The commissioning ceremony is expected to be a milestone event, attended by high-ranking government officials, members of the Ghana Police Service, and other housing sector stakeholders.
