The Bawku Naaba and Paramount Chief of the Kusasi Traditional Area, Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, has formally accepted the mediation report presented by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on the long-standing Bawku conflict, pledging full cooperation toward its implementation and the restoration of lasting peace.

In a press statement issued by the Kusaug Traditional Council, the Bawku Naaba described the Otumfuo-led mediation as a crucial milestone in the quest for peace, reconciliation and development in Bawku and its environs.

“We wish to state unequivocally that the Kusaug Traditional Council and the entire Kusasi Traditional Area accept the report and recommendations of the Otumfuo-led mediation committee in good faith,” the statement said

Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to peace and called on all stakeholders to embrace the report as a framework for reconciliation, unity and coexistence.

“Our commitment to peace remains unshaken, and we are ready to cooperate fully with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the mediation report for the benefit of present and future generations,” the statement added

The Kusaug Traditional Council expressed profound gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his leadership and impartiality throughout the mediation process, describing his intervention as timely and deeply rooted in Ghana’s traditional conflict-resolution values.

“We are profoundly grateful to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his wisdom, neutrality and dedication to peace, as well as the distinguished members of the mediation committee for their selfless service,” the statement noted.

The Bawku Naaba further directed all chiefs, elders, youth groups and residents of the Kusasi Traditional Area to support the peace process and avoid actions or rhetoric capable of undermining reconciliation efforts.

“We call on our youth and all residents of Bawku to exercise restraint, reject violence and embrace dialogue as the only sustainable path to peace,” the statement stressed.

The Bawku conflict, having claimed lives, displaced families and disrupted economic activities in the area over the years, the Kusaug Traditional Council concluded by appealing to government, security agencies and civil society organisations to continue supporting the peace process to ensure its full and successful implementation
